Sturrock: Rewarded by Southend

Southend boss Paul Sturrock has been rewarded for the League Two club's great form this season with a new rolling contract.

Sturrock, who took the reins in 2010, was due to see his two-year deal expire in the summer but fresh terms have now been put in place which commits his future to the Essex outfit. The rolling agreement, by nature, has no designated end date. The 55-year-old Scot has led rejuvenated Southend to the summit of League Two with more than half of the season having passed, while also managing a club-record equalling 17-match unbeaten run.It comes after Sturrock helped stabilise the ailing cash-strapped club's fortunes upon his arrival 18 months ago, securing a 13th-placed finish last term.He has previously enjoyed spells in charge of Plymouth Argyle, Sheffield Wednesday and Swindon among others.
