Fran Sandaza: Explains why he shunned Rangers

St Johnstone striker Fran Sandaza says he rejected a pre-contract offer from Rangers because he did not want to be a 'cheap' option.

The 27-year-old Spaniard is out-of-contract in the summer and the Scottish champions are keen to seal his signature ahead of a switch at the end of the season.Sandaza, though, says he is not ready to sign any pre-contract because he believes in his own ability."I don't think I will sign any pre-contract because I trust my possibilities. In this league I can score more than 20 goals and if someone wants me they have to want me enough," he said."I think I'm a good player and I have worked so hard to get to this level - so I don't want to go to any club cheap."Saints boss Steve Lomas has reacted with anger at Rangers over their handling of the situation."Rangers are a big club but unfortunately they're behaving like a little one," he said."I'm sure they must be feeling slightly miffed they can't go out there and pay for a Sandaza. I'd be worried, especially as this is a guy who has six months of his contract left."I'd be extremely worried if I was a Rangers fan now."There should be more leadership from the top. Ally has a difficult job as it is because of the finances. But this wouldn't happen if David Murray was at the club, he wouldn't let it."
