Graham Westley: Expected to be confirmed as Preston's new manager

Preston have agreed a deal in principle for Stevenage's Graham Westley to become their new manager, according to Sky Sports News.

North End chairman Peter Ridsdale sacked Phil Brown midway through December after a run of poor results and put David Unsworth and Graham Alexander in temporary charge.Preston made an enquiry to Stevenage for Westley earlier this week and reports suggested he had agreed personal terms and only the matter of settling on compensation stood in the way of the 43-year-old becoming Brown's successor at Deepdale.Stevenage dismissed those stories but it is now understood that Westley is on the verge on being appointed Preston's new boss.Westley has earned rave reviews for his work at Boro, having steered the club into the Football League and then into League One.Stevenage are currently seventh in the third-tier standings, seven places higher than Preston.
