David Moyes believes his Everton side just need a little luck in front of goal after watching the Toffees fall 2-0 at Tottenham thanks to a Benoit Assou-Ekotto wonder strike.
Everton - who remain 11th in the Premier League table - battled throughout at White Hart Lane, but never really troubled Spurs goalkeeper Brad Friedel, despite creating a few chances. And Moyes - whose team fell behind to an Aaron Lennon strike - thinks his team would have been fully deserving of a result, if only they could improve in front of goal."We did okay, but I'm disappointed - we had one or two good opportunities that we didn't take," said Moyes. "But we played quite well and there were a lot of good signs."We needed someone to catch the ball sweetly on their boot and for it to fly into the net. That's what we need at the moment and it's nothing less than we would have deserved.Deserved"We needed to hit one just like Assou-Ekotto hit his. If we'd got one of those it wouldn't have been out the ordinary, because we deserved to be in the game."A rare lapse in concentration from Everton's Leighton Baines allowed Lennon to fire Spurs ahead and Moyes says he will not be deterred from having a word in his player's ear, despite admitting the left-back is one of his most reliable performers. He added: "We made a mistake for the first goal. He's been fantastic for us and he doesn't make many mistakes, but he gets treated the same as everyone else. We'll let him know he has to better, but we understand he doesn't make many."Moyes preferred not to dwell on a second-half injury to Sylvain Distin - opting, instead, to praise his player's efforts."It looks like he's got a bit of a hamstring problem, but I think the players did really well. They tried to do the right things - just in the end, failed, but Tottenham are a good team."Read more http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11095/7424153/
