Steve Kean: Blackburn boss salutes the travelling fans after their 3-2 win at Old Trafford
Blackburn manager Steve Kean has called on his young players to use their stunning 3-2 victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford as a springboard for future success.
Rovers stunned the champions and ruined Sir Alex Ferguson's 70th birthday celebrations with Grant Hanley capitalising on David de Gea's blunder to head home 10 minutes from time.Yakubu had fired the Premier League strugglers into a shock 2-0 lead, with his first from the penalty spot, before Dimitar Berbatov dragged the Red Devils level with a quick-fire brace. At 2-2, and with just under half an hour remaining, most inside Old Trafford expected a home victory, but it was Kean's men who climbed off the bottom of the table with a stunning success, which came hard on the heels of their 1-1 draw at Liverpool.MassiveKean said: "This result's massive. To come here with such a young side and win it can be a real springboard for us to go and kick on."We got a very good point at Anfield and considering we have such a very young team the lads are growing up."Kean has put his faith in younger players, with several who played in the 1-1 draw against Liverpool and this win over United having come through the club's youth system. But it was Yakubu who drew the most praise from his manager.Kean added: "He's on fire the Yak. Everywhere he's been in his career, if you give him good service, he's a goalscorer."Read more http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11095/7403678/
