Dougie Freedman: Has guided his side into the semi-finals
Crystal Palace boss Dougie Freedman hailed a 'wonderful night' as he saw his side claim a 2-1 upset at Manchester United in the Carling Cup.
Palace booked a place in the semi-finals courtesy of an extra-time header from Glenn Murray. In normal time, a fantastic long-range effort from Darren Ambrose had put them ahead just after the hour before United levelled courtesy of a Federico Macheda penalty. But Palace earned the victory and Freedman felt they were worthy winners."It is a wonderful night for the football club considering the position we have been in in recent years. We really enjoyed our night," he told Sky Sports"We got the win, which I thought we deserved, we played some good football and showed desire to see out the game."When you come to Old Trafford you have to give everything you have got and the lads did that. We believe in each other and that takes you a long way at times."Tough testPalace have drawn Cardiff City in the semi-finals, avoiding both Manchester City and Liverpool - but Freedman insists the Welsh side present the toughest task.Asked if they were the most desirable opponents he replied: "Not at all, if you have watched Cardiff it is going to be a very difficult tie as they are an expectional team and that has probably made it harder for us."Read more http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11095/7343893/
