Paul Jewell: Embarrassed by Ipswich's performance in their 4-0 defeat at Burnley
Ipswich Town manager Paul Jewell was embarrassed at his side's 4-0 thrashing by Burnley at Turf Moor.
Town slumped to a sixth consecutive defeat as on-loan Wolves striker Sam Vokes scored his first goal for the Clarets and Jay Rodriguez claimed his 11th of the season either side of a brace for midfielder Chris McCann.Ipswich have the likes of Lee Bowyer, Jimmy Bullard and Michael Chopra in their ranks and Jewell says his players are simply not 'doing it'.Jewell is at a loss to explain Ipswich's run of form, labelling their defeat to Burnley as 'garbage'.Embarrassed"I feel physically sick," said Jewell. "There's a lot of people with big reputations in that changing room."People keep on telling us what an experienced team and what good players we've got. They can all talk the talk but at the minute they're not doing it."It's unbelievable from a team that not so long ago was looking like a decent team. Now it looks as if we can't win a 50-50 tackle, or even 60-40 in our favour."There's a goal where the kid runs from midfield right through the heart of our defence, there's a goal from a set play - anyone watching that would think it's like a pub team really."It's unacceptable. I'm embarrassed here coming to see you guys. I'm embarrassed walking past those supporters of ours who've travelled all that way to watch absolute garbage."Ultimately it's my responsibility and some of the stuff that is going on in there is not what we've been preaching. In fact, none of it is."GloryClarets boss Eddie Howe was left to bask in the glory of back-to-back wins and a dominant showing on his 34th birthday that moves his side four points clear of the relegation zone."The second half was enjoyable," he said. "I don't think I've had many second halves here at Turf Moor in my short reign that have been as enjoyable as that. I thought we were excellent."It was a strange game in the fact that we created so many chances. I think we could have probably scored double the four that we did."Jay Rodriguez had chance after chance and to be fair to him he kept going and got the reward for an excellent individual performance."But what pleases me more is the team effort. We were really good in the second half."Read more http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11095/7342200/
