Marseille thumped arch-rivals Paris Saint Germain, Lyon return to winning ways while Lorient secured a much-needed success.
Paris St Germain missed the chance to move level on points with Ligue 1 leaders Montpellier after being thumped at arch-rivals Marseille.The big-spending visitors have now failed to win any of their last three league encounters, increasing the pressure on coach Antoine Kombouare.They were second best at the Stade Velodrome after Loic Remy put Marseille ahead in the ninth minute.Morgan Amalfitano doubled the advantage 20 minutes into the second half and Andre Ayew added a third for Didier Deschamps' side late on.Lyon hit back after a poor run of results with a thumping 3-0 win away from home against Auxerre.Remi Garde's side went into Sunday's match on the back of successive league defeats and a frustrating home draw with Ajax in midweek which as good as sealed their exit from the UEFA Champions League.Respite arrived in the form of three much-needed points courtesy of a Lisandro Lopez brace and Michel Bastos' late solo strike.The win leaves Lyon fifth in the standings while Auxerre are now just two places and one point above the relegation zone.Arnold Mvuemba's penalty earned Lorient just a second win in six games as struggling Nice were beaten 1-0 in Ligue 1.The midfielder slotted home in the second half after Larrys Mabiala fouled Gilles Sunu as the hosts revitalised their push for the European places.Abraham Guie Gneki missed a great chance to equalise in the last minute and Luciano Monzon was desperately unlucky not to find the net as Nice remained in the bottom three.Read more http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11095/7338024/
