Petr Cech: Disappointed with Chelsea's 5-3 defeat at home to Arsenal

Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech has admitted that a poor team display was to blame for the 5-3 defeat at home to Arsenal on Saturday.

The Blues twice surrendered the lead in an incredibly open game at Stamford Bridge as their defensive mistakes were exposed by Arsenal's in-form attackers, with Robin van Persie netting a hat-trick.Cech does not think it is just the back four that should accept responsibility and feels everyone in the team must work hard to bounce back in the next match."I am extremely disappointed about the result," the Czech Republic international said on his own personal website."But there is nothing we can do about it now - the only response is to win the following games."Asked what the main reason was for the defeat, Cech added: "That we made lots of errors in defending. We gave Arsenal too many chances to punish us and they took them."DifficultCech admits that he cannot recall quite such a poor defensive display since he joined Chelsea from Rennes in 2004.He said: "If my memory works well, this is the first time I have conceded five goals in one game. Up till this the maximum had been four."It was a result of bad defending of the entire team, outlined by individual errors. We certainly can't blame only the defenders for the goals, we played poorly as a team."Cech accepts that he could have done more himself to keep the scoreline down, although he does not believe he should be criticised for letting in Theo Walcott's powerful strike at his near post."The last goal from Robin van Persie, from such a position I shouldn't concede goals," he said."The ball may have changed trajectory but I should have caught it. As for Arsenal's third goal, I had it difficult against Walcott's shot."He aimed it precisely between me and the post and, moreover, it was a hard shot."
