Antonio Di Natale's seventh goal of the season handed Udinese Calcio a 1-0 win against US Città di Palermo, while AC Siena and Bologna FC registered impressive home results.
The 34-year-old forward found the net seven minutes before the break to maintain his side's impeccable record at the Stadio Friuli and lift them back up to second in Serie A, a point behind leaders Juventus. As for Siena, two goals from Mattia Destro helped them triumph 4-1 against AC Chievo Verona, while Bologna's revival continued after they recovered from a goal down to win 3-1 against Atalanta BC.
ACF Fiorentina condemned Genoa CFC to their first defeat in four, Andrea Lazzari's first-half strike proving the difference, and Parma FC were 2-0 winners against bottom-placed AS Cesena. Goals either side of the interval from Gabriel Paletta and Alessandro Lucarelli condemned Cesena to their sixth reverse this term and promptly led to the sacking of coach Marco Giampaolo, who was appointed this summer.
Elsewhere, US Lecce and Novara Calcio, who occupy the other relegation spots, shared the points in a 1-1 draw at the Stadio Via del Mare, and Cagliari Calcio host S.S. Lazio in the late kick-off.
