Paul Lambert: The Norwich boss was thrilled with his players
Norwich manager Paul Lambert hailed his side's draw at Liverpool on Saturday evening as 'massive'.
Grant Holt's 60th minute equaliser at Anfield cancelled out former Canaries forward Craig Bellamy's first-half opener. And while the result was a huge setback for Liverpool, the share of the points represented a memorable and deserved outing for Norwich.Lambert's team were grateful to see Luis Suarez hit the woodwork on more than one occasion, while the Uruguayan was also denied by a brilliant save from John Ruddy in injury-time.But Norwich, who were promoted from the Championship last season and ended a run of four successive defeats to Liverpool, were good value for the point.ExcellentLambert said: "I thought the first half we were a bit frightened by it and never really got going and Liverpool put us under immense pressure but the way the lads defended was great."The second half we played the way we have been [doing] and I thought we went at them and were excellent."There have been some fantastic teams come here and get turned over."It is massive, that is a huge point. No-one gave us an earthly [chance] coming here."Lambert praised the contribution of Holt and Ruddy, as he said: "Grant came on and I think it was a fantastic header. I thought him and Steve Morison together were an absolute handful."I thought Suarez's volley was going in but when you play at a high level big players produce big moments and I thought that save was world class."Read more http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11095_7260374,00.html
