Arsene Wenger: Knows the return meeting with Marseille is 'very important'

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger did not want to get carried away after victory over Marseille and acknowledged his team still has a lot of hard work ahead.

A 1-0 win at the Stade Velodrome on Wednesday night put the Gunners one point clear of their hosts at the top of UEFA Champions League Group F and in pole position to reach the knockout stages.Substitute Aaron Ramsey's injury-time strike was reward for Arsenal's patient approach in France, but Wenger knows his team, whose next European outing is the return meeting with Marseille at Emirates Stadium on 1st November, is still in transition. The North London outfit have made their worst start to a Premier League season and last Sunday's win over Sunderland was only their third league victory of an underachieving campaign.RewardThey have been better in Europe and Wenger returned to the Arsenal dugout after a two-match Uefa touchline ban for the win over Marseille. He was aware of the importance of the three points, however, he was also keen to keep his feet on the ground after the success. The Frenchman said: "We left it very late because we had a difficult start, we lost many balls in the first half."I don't think Marseille were dangerous in the second half. In fairness they defended well, but we were rewarded because we kept going."We made a little step forward, but we have to be humble because we are a team that has to continue to grow."The next game at home against Marseille will be very important."
