Charlie Adam: Wants to get on the scoresheet for Craig Levein's Scottish side

Liverpool midfielder Charlie Adam is hoping to raise his game when Scotland take on Spain on Tuesday.

Craig Levein's second-placed side go into the crucial qualifier in Euro 2012 Group I needing to match the Czech Republic's result against Lithuania to make the play-offs.Adam did well when he climbed off the bench when Scotland came from two goals down against the world champions back in October 2010, with Spain eventually winning 3-2.That game was Adam's first competitive match for Scotland and he sees it as perhaps a pivotal moment, as he has since established himself in Levein's side and has won 13 caps."That Spain game was maybe pivotal in my international career because I played against Sweden (shortly) before that and never had a great game but came on that night and did OK and maybe that changed it."
Charlie AdamQuotes of the weekHe told Liverpool's official website: "That Spain game was maybe pivotal in my international career because I played against Sweden (shortly) before that and never had a great game but came on that night and did OK and maybe that changed it."It was just one of those nights everything clicked. I have a few caps now and just want more."ImproveBut the Liverpool midfielder knows he can play better for the national side."Performance-wise, I know I can improve for Scotland," he said."I'll put my hand up and say that but it's what happens at times. It is difficult to play at international level. But I'm learning and enjoying it and that's the important thing."While he has operated in a more deep-lying midfield role for Scotland, Adam can still push forward and join an attack and he wants to get some goals."I enjoy it, but the manager's not said I need to sit and play," he added. "I can go and join in and get forward."That's what I want to do. I want to score goals. It is the one thing I want to do when I play. I hope I can get some for Scotland."
