Hamburger SV earned a 2-1 comeback win at VfB Stuttgart in Friday night's game in Germany while UEFA Champions League contenders FC Oţelul Galaţi, FC BATE Borisov and FC Viktoria Plzeň had underwhelming results.

In their first game under caretaker coach Rodolfo Cardoso, who stepped in after Michael Oenning's departure on Monday, Hamburg trailed to Martin Harnik's 18th-minute strike in Stuttgart, but they turned the match on its head after the break, with Jeffrey Bruma and Robert Tesche hitting back for the visitors to earn their first Bundesliga win of the season.

Czech champions Plzeň drew 0-0 away against an SK Dynamo České Budějovice side who have yet to win a game this season, and Romanian title holders Oţelul could find no way past CS Mioveni. BATE at least managed to score, Artyom Kontsevoi putting them 1-0 up after just six minutes at FC Belshina Bobruisk, but Yahor Zubovich struck back within a minute of the restart, and Belarus's top dogs were held 1-1.

GNK Dinamo Zagreb bucked the trend for the UEFA Champions League contenders, coming from behind to win 2-1 at NK Lokomotiva Zagreb, with Fatos Beqiraj scoring both of their goals.
