Coyle: Hoping for cup success against Villa

Bolton Wanderers manager Owen Coyle is hoping that they can put an end to their poor run of results by defeating Aston Villa in the Carling Cup on Tuesday.

The Trotters travel to Villa Park for the third round encounter on the back of a 2-1 home defeat to Norwich City that pushed them to second from bottom in the Premier League. The loss at the Reebok Stadium on Saturday was their fourth in a row in the league and followed their defeats to Manchester City, Liverpool and Manchester United.Coyle is understandably frustrated with his side's disappointing start to the 2011/12 season and is hopeful of achieving a positive result against Villa.Tough matches"It's certainly a case of having some very tough fixtures, that's for sure," he said. "We were disappointed on Saturday because it's a game we probably felt we should be winning."I think a few things conspired against us but ultimately we didn't perform well enough in the first half. The second half we certainly did and we were very unlucky not to salvage a point."Given the set of fixtures, if we'd have been sitting here with six points, we'd have been in a very healthy position."Stuart Holden has returned to fitness after sustaining a serious knee injury against Manchester United in March, and Coyle has confirmed that the midfielder will start at Villa Park."We love the cup and we love progressing as far as we can in any competition," he enthused. "We'll still make changes because we had players sitting on the bench on Saturday who need some game time."Stuart Holden will start, which is another boost, and we'll see how far he's progressed. We have to make sure there's freshness and energy."
